Upgrade 2G iPhone
So I have an old iphone that i use as a backup and for playing games on wifi. I want to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.3 with a moden firmware of 04.05.04_G
I want to keep my unlock. Im not sure what it was jailbroken with from the beginning, but my GPS and youtube does not work. I would like to upgrade to 3.1.3, keep my unlock, and have my GPS and youtube working again. What are my options?

Download 3.1.2. & 3.1.3 firmware and shift + restore to 3.1.3 using iTunes. Download Bootloader 3.9 & 4.6 and jailbreak with redsnow 0.9.4

No need for DFU mode, either way it'll work. The bootloader files are required for redsn0w to process. You can jailbreak fine with other tools but redsn0w will do the jb and unlock at the same time.

You can actually run redsnow to hactivate ,jailbreak and unlock all in one process. Using a valid sim is good practice , cheers

Now I having the same problem i had to begin with. After i install anything from cydia, i hit spring and all I get is the spinning loading wheel. I just did the restore, jailbroke, and the first thing i went to install was sbsettings, now i have the wheel of death. Any ideas?

When Cydia finishes and shows the 'respring' or 'reboot' button ... Stop!
Instead, power off the device normally using the power button. Wait a sec or two and power it back on.
It works

Will I have to do that everytime i install something thru cydia?

When presented with the respring or reboot button - Yes
Not sure when a fix is planned, maybe with the next Cydia update. This occurs with 'some' 2g/3g users, not all.

Upgrade your cydia, do this . Use ifile, ifunbox or ssh into your iphone and put this cydia deb file version 1.1.2 into : /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall and reboots your iphone.
Here is the deb file : MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

^That was a fast update (haha). Normal Cydia updates are automatic. Why is this one manual update?

What do you mean ?, download the deb file and you have to put it in cydia\autoinstall directory and reboots.

into : /var/root/Media
This is as far as it goes, nothing after media.

Add the two sub-directories
From an ssh session:
mkdir /var/root/Media/Cydia
mkdir /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

Create a folder in your computer and drag it in there.
Don't bother if you can't get it, I am just thinking the redsn0w 0.9.4 gives you an older version but may fix your problem if you update to version 1.1.2
Currently , I think Jailbreakme.com or Redsn0w RC19 gives you version 1.1.2, others will be 1.1.1Last edited by iYeow; 07-28-2011 at 05:10 PM.
