Now that the shininess of my iPhone has gone I decided to jailbreak and have ran into major trouble, any help will be greatly appreciated!
The info:
iPhone 4 - 4.2.1. iTunes(latest version)
When I went in jailbreakme3.0, no option was available to download so I turned to greenpoison;
I used greenpoison, when installing cydia the app crashed and I lost most of my default icons (phone, iPod, mail, camera, contacts etc) upon reboot. Safari, settings and all of my downloaded apps remained. I ran greenpoison again an this time cydia installed perfectly. However, I do not have my default icons back. I cannot make phone calls, I can receive but then have no in-call options and must wait on the caller ending the call.
Attempts:
I downloaded 4.2.1 IPSW file and tried to restore in both normal mode and what I believe was DFU mode (screen was blank but iTunes said recovery mode). Didn't work. I tried editing the windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file (suggested in another tutorial) but to no avail as anything I try results in error 3914.
I downloaded tinyumbrella and saved my SHSH AFTER I ran into these problems (foolish?) but it says 4.3.4 on the logs but iTunes still says 4.2.1!
I believe simply restoring and updating would work HOWEVER this will update me to 4.3.4 and now I have experienced JB I dont ever want to go back lol but I am slowly resigning to this horrible fact!
First thing, is the phone somewhat working? Maybe ....
If so, since you're currently on 4.2.1 and TU did not find SHSH blobs for 4.2.1, try iFaith (iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones). It may work to get current 4.2.1 SHSH blobs. See what happens.
Use ifaith as mes said .
Extract blobs using it.
And then make a signed ipsw using those blobs from the same software .
Put in pwned dfu mode and shift + restore from iTunes. :-)
No iTunes errors when I shift restored using DFU pwn. Still says 'iPhone is in recovery mode' when I load iTunes. When I coonnect/disconnect the phone TU shows DFU device connect/disconnect.
I put it in DFU pwn, then shift restored, iTunes said it had restored but the device didn't exit DFU mode. TY for the suggestion, I shall try and report.
Same problem. Doesn't exit DFU mode following restore. I really don't want to give up just yet but I'm running out of hope.
