How to apply custom IPSW?
I am currently on a iphone 4, firmware 4.0 baseband 1.59. I just created a custom IPSW via sn0wbreeze for 4.3.3 that perserves my baseband and all that good jazz. How do I apply this custom IPSW since apple isn't signing for 4.3.3 anymore?

Actually I believe Apple is in fact still signing it. First get tinyumbrella from here, The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella after save your shsh as fast as you can. Then put the phone into pwned dfu mode and open itunes. Click shift and then restore and restore to the 4.3.3 firmware you have made.

Start Tiny Umbrella ( The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella ), select your device in the left pane, then start server. TU will supply the 'authorization" to iTunes during the custom firmware load. This assumes you already have saved your 4.3.3 SHSH blobs ....

Yeah I've had my blobs saved for ages now. what is "pwnd dfu mode"?
and btw once I get the firmware on my device, I can still use jailbreakme.com correct?

No Jailbreak.Me. Either load a custom firmware (via Sn0wbreeze + iTunes == BEST) ... OR .... PwnageTool (Mac)
Don't intermix two different jailbreak utilities.
Pwn'd-DFU mode injects special jb'ing code necessary for newer devices and firmware.
BTW: Custom Firmwares contain all the jailbreaking stuff built inLast edited by Mes; 07-17-2011 at 01:48 PM.

I just did a restore, apple is still signing 4.3.3. So don't worry , be patience at the traffic jam.
They usually close it by midnight , Pacific Time. If you live in Eastern US, you have 3 hours extra time. I am not saying they are going to close the signing tonight but who knows.Last edited by iYeow; 07-17-2011 at 08:48 PM.

How the hell is Apple already issuing refurbished devices with 4.3.4 on them?! The OS launched about forty-eight hours ago! I am stunned. What are the first five characters of your serial number, if I may ask?
--You should be fine, Apple's not going to yank SHSH signing late on a Sunday night--first thing tomorrow morning though, they'll be gone I bet. Get home safely.

Remember, you have to put your iphone into Normal DFU mode and restore to stock 4.3.3 ipsw.
Actually, i wouldn't worry too much about iphone 4 as A4 chip can always be jailbroken cos it uses Bootrom Exploit.Last edited by iYeow; 07-17-2011 at 08:53 PM.

I think the employees have been given instructions to update it before handing it out. How do you know that apple is going to stop signing tomorrow. It usually takes a couple of days after the release of new firmware before they sign off.

It came out on late-ish on last Friday. Apple didn't have time to program their two servers to stop signing blobs before they all left for the weekend, but they likely will first thing Monday morning when they come back into the office. They did something like that last November when they released 4.2.1 on the Wednesday before American Thanksgiving--signatures for 4.1 continued through the holiday weekend but stopped first thing Monday morning. Admittedly, I have no factual basis for the assumption that they'll be stopped tomorrow morning; it's my best guess.
@Turn: that Genius bar employee is a jerk. Instructions or not, that's just rude (assuming your girlfriend looks... ah, "tech-savvy" enough to be able to update a phone herself--if she so chooses).

Hell I don't know. I thought they could flip it like a switch. Lol.
I got it home and downgraded just fine. Thanks all
