Cydia wheel appears after each respring
I just upgraded my 3GS to 4.3.3 and jb'ed with jbme 3.0. After I install any app and do a respring, or just do a regular respring the home screen and lock screen have the cydia waiting wheel going on in the center of it inside a box. It goes away only when I move the icons on the screen. Any ideas why this would happen? I only reinstalled my apps with pkg backup, nothing new of note. Thanks!

That sounded normal up until you said it doesn't go away until you move an icon. It could be either the jailbreak didn't go completely well, or it's pkgbackup's fault. Either way you might consider restoring and rejailbreaking. Restore from backup if you'd like, probably better if you don't but it shouldn't harm anything really. Test a respring before using pkgbackup and see if the problem still exists. If not, redo pkgbackup and see if the problem still exists.

Thanks for the help! I did a complete shut down and respring and it's still around. It takes a couple of hours to do a complete restore so I'll hold off until I notice if it affects anything. I'll keep this in mind though!

I did a test run of jailbreakme 3.0 on my old 3GS. I got the same spinning wheel. It actually stopped showing up after a little while. To me jailbreakme isn't very stable. I've had to restore twice. Sticking to redsnow.

FYI: Jailbreak.me uses the new unionfs. A new and faster way of organizing the filesystem after a jailbreak. Redsn0w uses the old but slower 'tried and true' method.

I restored my IP 3GS (old bootrom) twice as well. I upgraded from good old 4.2.1. to 4.3.3. using jailbreakme.com. That spinning wheel didn't go away. I do take comfort in the fact that it only happens after a respring or installation of an app from Cydia. Hopefully a fix or at least a work-around will turn up before Apple patches the 4.3.3 hole. The least that could be done is put that spinning wheel transparently in the background or in the status bar.

I had the exact same thing on my 3GS. I thought it was because i restored new to 4.3.3 from 4.2.1 (jb) and then restored from backup (which also does it but wasn't the cause apparently).
I restored fresh again to 4.3.3 and hadn't encountered it yet until today. I installed the boot logo animate fix for 4.x.x (v 1.1) and that package was going to install animate, animate fix, and preference loader. after respring i had it. i removed those packages again and after pref load respring it was gone.
it wasn't that big a deal having to page to the second page to make it disappear but i feel a lot better knowing i can get rid of it at least.
