its not showing me that rar file in the browse window even though i renamed it to iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

if i actually open the file with winrar the file name is called iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw.zip

maybe i renamed it bad? is there an official way of changing the file name?

Right click and rename it from iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw.zip to iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

Only one extension is allowed, not two like this : .ipsw.zip which is incorrect.

im renaming it but its not showing up in the browse area...its like im renaming it but its not really changing its extension like its suppose to.

Go to control panel, folder options and uncheck hide protect your windows files.

Hahaha, you must be a noob, new to iphone ...lol

So once restored, you are at emergency screen, jailbreak it with redsn0w and update cydia and install Ultasn0w to unlock. Good Luck. I am going to bed now.

Im having a problem with Cydia now. It just keep on Loading Screen forever after it seemed fine in the first boot up (aside from a few errors)...Now anytime i open cydia it just keeps on saying Loading ...

I tried restoring , and rejailbreaking but i get the same problem

How long have you waited for the loading of Cydia, 3g is slow but it should work at 3.1.3.
Here are all your options :
If you have restored to 3.1.2, and you are saying Redsn0w 0.9.4 doesn't work , try Blackra1n fix for 9.1 to jailbreak.
If you have restored to 3.1.3 , you can also jailbreak it with www.jailbreakme 2.0 from Safari on your iphone.
How about restore to custom firmware of 3.1.3 or 4.2.1 created by Snowbreeze or Pwnage tools.

I waited about 10minutes.

I restored the iphone again to 3.1.3, this time i ran redsnow without installing cydia, now i am at least able to get into the iphones menu ... i install cydia seperately with that website so far so good..
