Iphone 4 unlocked from Vodaphone by Apple. ok to use redsnow to jailbreak???
hi all
sorry if this is somewhere else but couldn't find an exact answer using the search.
I bought an Iphone 4 and it was locked to vodaphone. I called them and requested an unlock. I believe they then contact apple who unlock it.
It is now unlocked and on fw 4.3.2 I want to jailbreak it but I was worried about losing the unlock to use my giffgaff (O2) sim.
Can I use redsnow or do I have to use snowbreeze? I am on baseband 04.10.01 so ultrasnow won't work for me if the iPhone relocks itself.
Any help and clear guidance would be much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!

If the phone is really unlocked then you can use redsn0w to jailbreak it. Snowbreeze works as well but thats mostly if want to create a custom fw while preserving the current baseband and seeing as your baseband is already on 04.10 then the choice is really yours.

What I mean is if its officially carrier unlocked then you should be able to jailbreak it without any worries. What you can do probably is run SAM to backup the IMEI activation and then try jailbreaking it. If you're already on an official firmware then you can use that firmware on redsn0w to jailbreak it and then add the SAM prefs from Cydia.

If it is factory unlock, it will not relock back after a restore, to jailbreak , run redsn0w RC17 to jailbreak your iphone 4. You do not need Ultrasn0w.

ok thanks for that will give it a go fingers crossed

hi just went onto to download redsnow and came across this:
"NOTE: Those of you who rely on a carrier unlock MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and stock iOS 4.3.2 firmware."
is this not going to affect my unlock if i use redsnow?
thanks i just want to double check before bricking my iphone!
i have a jailbroken ipod touch but didn't need to worry about carrier unlocks on that....Last edited by bjammin7680; 06-25-2011 at 01:27 AM.

If the phone has been factory unlocked then you can proceed with the jailbreak. The warning is there for people who rely on their preserved basebands for the ultrasn0w unlock. You are on a 04.10 baseband which is currently not unlockable through ultrasn0w so you should be good to jailbreak.
