I phone 3gs stuck after reboot

Help!!! I just got a used iphone 3gs with cydia and tried to reset it. I had never synced it or set it to my computer before trying to reboot it. Now it is stuck in reboot mode and my computer doesn't sense it at all.

You will have to put it in recovery or DFU and restore it. Are you on official carrier?

Thanks, I'm currently in DFU and restoring it. No, I'm not on official carrier, I just bought phone used and was trying to reset it for eventual unlock and international use. Now it doesn't register on my computer with any software I'm using. What should I do next to unlock for international use?

Probably should have held off restoring until you knew what firmware it was on. You may have just locked it.

What firmware did you restore to and are you currently at the emergency call screen?

Yes I'm at the emergency call screen. I think the phone was on 4.2.1 and apple tried to restore it to the latest firmware. Message reads "this software is ineligible for the requested build. I followed all of their suggested prompts for restoring and nothing helps.

Download f0recast and run it with the phone connected. It can tell you what firmware and what base and you have.

Forecast can't sense the iphone, runs message, no device connected.

I was running 4.3.1 before reset. I just used tiny umbrella to try and fix the loop, and the following appeared on my iphone 3gs

Open tiny umbrella
Click on advanced
Deselect box that says set hosts to cydia on exit
Click apply and close tiny umbrella
Proceed with the update/restore

This will get you to 4.3.3. At that point you can either use a official carrier sim to activate or use redsnow 0.9.6rc16 to jailbreak and hactivate.
