I wanted to start a thread concerning two major topics I've seen a lot of people ask and questions I'd like answers to myself...
1) a) Is there a successful downgrade from activated iOS 5?
b) Can we downgrade to any firmware (assuming shsh blobs are stored)?
c) Can we reJB after iOS 5 if we successfully downgrade?
d) Can I just downgrade out of inactive iOS 5? (didn't register UDID first)
2) a) How can I find my UDID (Unique Device Identifier) if upgraded to iOS 5 but can't activate?
b) Can I activate iOS 5 after I register my UDID with a dev account?
c) How do I register my UDID to a dev account and use iOS 5 beta?
Please answer questions with their designation so we know which you're responding to. Thanks!
I'll answer the best I can to the ones (I think) I know....
1a) I personally downgraded back to 4.3.3 from iOS5 by simply going into DFU mode and option+restore with a stock 4.3.3 ispw (googled it). I did this on my iPad 2 and know others who successfully downgraded on their iPhones. It should work , even on iTunes 5, but seems like people are still having some problems. But I know it's possible.
1b,c) these are actually what I really want to know for myself. I'm holding off upgrading my 4.2.1 JB iPhone 4 until I know I can get it back. And 1d) is for me to help people on forums and who email me with this issue.
2a) I had a customer tell me they used iPhone Configuration Utility to find it after preemptively upgrading. They used a Mac so don't know if there's a windows alternative or a simple option all together.
2b,c) After you register your UDID with a dev account you should be active iOS 5 on your device normally. You can go to the Buy/Sell/Trade section of the iPhone forums to look for developers selling slots. They're generally between $5-$10 per device (so if you have two devices, you need two slots) and turnaround is pretty quick. Once they add your UDID, you can instantly activate. Your registration should be valid for all beta versions and the final release of iOS 5. Feel free to PM if you have more questions.Last edited by RaginAsian55; 06-08-2011 at 09:09 AM.

Your UDID registration is only good for the duration of the Developer Account. I'm not sure what happens after a year if the developer renews their subscription- whether your UDID stays in their account or if they start with another 100 brand new open slots.
If you purchased a dev slot to upgrade your iPod, i'd ask the dev when their account expires and that's how long you have left. For example, since I purchased my account on 6/6/2011, me and anyone who purchased a dev slot with me are able to test any beta iOS for the next 363 days, even if iOS6 comes out in that time. It just depends on the account subscription. I say that most dev slots purchased now will (hopefully) carry them through all iOS 5 beta revisions because the dev account will (hopefully) not expire in the next 3 months before the final version is released. If their account does expire and you can't upgrade your betas (everyone will have access to the final release), you should ask for a refund or at least a heavy discount depending on when it does expire.Last edited by RaginAsian55; 06-08-2011 at 09:57 AM.

You can also look in your backup folder on your computer. The name of the folders there are your UDID.

Inputing wrong UDID
If you input the wrong UDID I can you change it? It currently has the iOS 5 installed but will not let me move forward.

The UDID can be changed on the developers acct. You will need to contact them and them check to see if it was submitted correctly.
If I helped you in any way please click the THANKS! button below.
Even if you just want to click it for fun, go ahead, have fun.

Udid
I have it was my bad... I went through Raginasian55 she is really patient even dealing with slow people like me.
I am currently running the iOS 5 on my iphone 4 CDMA and it works great. Still trying to figure out what the hype is about but I am still trying to update my ipad where I am sure there is more to check out.

It was a pleasure doing business with you and I really appreciate your patience. If you would keep my email if you need to setup again for next year I would be more than happy to sign up with you again.

Thanks for the nice feedback and support, Eastwood! It can be difficult dealing with all this software stuff and having your (essentially) only support group be faceless, unknown pseudonyms. Glad I could help. Not sure if I'll do it again next year, but I have 12 months to decide. :-)
Glad you're enjoying iOS 5!
