Can't use 3g iphone after jailbreak...

So I jailbroke my iphone 3g using pwnage successfully...I inserted my active sim card that I use on my other phone, not an iphone, and it comes up with no service after a few minutes...I have an ATT account so didn't bother unlocking it...

Does anyone have any ideas why its not functioning?

The iphone iOS is 3.1 if it matters and used the correct version of pwnage to jailbreak...

Yes I did...I even jailbroke it a second time and got the same result...

Update: Restored iphone and inserted active sim card and works fine...Will try jailbreaking again and see if it still works or not...

Update 2: Once the phone was restored, it displayed the ATT 3G logo on the top left but couldn't test it cause it now needs the passcode which I've forgotten...I restored the phone to the same version software it had and the passcode is disabled...Phone works fine as is but will jailbreak later and see...
