Default when jailbreaking with redsnow, why do i have to

when jailbreaking with redsnow, why do i have to download the .ispw & use it if im already upgraded to that version on my ipod?

also, im JB'ing (with redsnow) an ipod that has never been used on this computer. ive made a backup, and will be updating it to 4.3.3. so then i do the jb according to the instructions & its basically like a new ipod. i will then select restore from backup to get her pictures & info & apps back on there, correct?

so when i give it back to the girl, she will then be able to sync it to her computer & then put her music back on? will she select restore from backup also?

Thats just how redsnow works, it uses some of the files from the .ipsw to help jailbreak.

Yes she can restore from her backup to get her stuff back.

To comply with US (and maybe other countries) copyright laws, it is impossible to provide a pre jailbroken image with which to send to your applicable iDevice. Therefore Redsn0w needs a user supplied firmware image to manipulate.

Much like Custom firmware for the PSP.
