Wifi Error

Hello I have an iPhone 3gs running 4.1 and with a baseband of 6.15.00. I am currently having a wifi issue where it usually doesn't pick up the network. I can turn wifi on but it doesn't find signal. I was told if I rejailbreak it will fix the issue. The question is is this correct? And if it is how do I go about rejailbreaking it because doesn't the iPad baseband affect the whole process?

Go check your ip address on the wifi you connected, it should start with 192.168.x.xx

When ever I search for a network to join non pops up on the list. :/
