Can I use a 2g with iTunes 10?

I have a pwned 2g I've been using for a few years on T-Mobile.

I got an iPad 2 yesterday which require me to update my iTunes to version 10.2.2. Now I'm afraid to plug my iPhone into my computer to sync stuff. I know it's gonna want to upgrade my phone, but don't know what I should do at that point.

Mac OSX 10.6.6

Phone is currently on 3.1.2(7D11) with modem firmware 04.05.04_G

All the guides seem to be from back when 3.1.3 came out, so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Is there any help for me?

Did the update. Since I had a previously pwned phone I didn't have to do anything. Hooked it up and let it sync. It updated all of my apps, including a few that I didn't want updated (like facebook). Just had to roll those back a version via time machine.

(I was nervous because a few years ago the itunes update killed my phone and as a newbie it took me HOURS to find instructions that made sense.)
