No DFU mode, just recovery?

Hey everyone, I'm planning on jailbreaking (or at least trying) my iPhone 4 tonight. It's on 4.3.3, and I already created the IPSW with PwnageTool.

The only problem is I can't get it into DFU mode. I hold both home/power for 10 seconds, then let go of the power button and continue holding home until the message pops up. And every time it says that it's gone into recovery mode.

And also on the same note, I remember having a problem with my last iPhone where I tried to restore with the custom IPSW and I got an error saying that "the requested build could not be found". Any idea how to get around this?

Since your iphone is already on 4.3.3, you do not need to use custom fw , just run redsn0w RC16 in xp2 compatibility mode, browse to stock 4.3.3 and do your jailbreak. Just follow the instructions on the count, you will get it eventually get it right.

Ok I'll give that a shot. redsn0w will work on mac right? And what's xp compatibility mode?

Yes, if there is a Mac version.

Get it at the dev team's blog, thats the version you want. Google dev team, first link, pretty sure it's the first or second post.

Don't worry about xp2 compat, i was referring to PC version.
