Default starting over on iPhone 3G

I bought a used iPhone 3G on eBay which had been jailbroken 4.2.1 firmware but also had its baseband upgraded to 06.15 which meant that I couldn't restore using iTunes back to factory software.

I didn't know any better then.

Anyway, what is the newest firmware that I can put into this iPhone?

I want to start over fresh.

Are you saying 3.1.3 official firmware?

I was getting the error 1015 when I tried restoring to the official 4.2.1 firmware. It was because the baseband had been modified.

You're going to have to dumb that down for me.

What do you mean browse to stock 3.1.2?

Also, can I go back to stock 3.1.2 since the baseband is at 06.15?
