Sold iPhone on ebay, buyer updated it -_- how to fix on 4.2.1 please help!

So sold a jailbroken and unlocked iphone 3gs on ebay. It was on 4.2.1 and done with greenpoision.

The person who I sold it to bricked it by updating it on itunes.

I know there is a way to fix this but no idea how.

Cannot do a restore I got error 1015 and 3949 or something similar to that.

Its stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen, and itunes recognizes it in recovery mode.

any tips?

I got around the error 1015 then got the 3914, followed steps to change the hosts files and still no go

error 3194 is at the beginning of the process, it has to do with not being able to get SHSH from Apple's or cydia's server.

Error 1015 is a baseband error at the end of the process. So you would first need to get around error 3194 and then deal with error 1015.

You need to fix your hosts file for that as there sounds like there is something wrong with it.

I dont get how. First error i was getting was 1015. I got around that and then got 3194. I followed a process and changed the hosts file to 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com at the bottom and still nothing at all.

Download tiny umbrella and do this:
Open tiny umbrella
Click on advanced
Deselect box that says set hosts to cydia on exit
Click apply and close tiny umbrella


Then use pwnage tool or snowbreeze to make a custom 4.3.3 firmware and restore to that in itunes.

Stuck on the apple logo after I tried restoring a custom 4.3.3 via itunes. Got error 21

You need to enter pwned DFU with redsnow/ireb/pwnage tool before you can restore to a custom firmware.
