ipod touch 4G backup
so does anyone know why iTunes does not put the any of the app store apps back onto the ipod when it is restored?
EDIT: i will go ahead and ask another question, will the current itunes allow me to get my iphone 3G doesn to 3.1.x??? i am tired of 4.x and i am pretty sure i have a RAM leakage problem.... so i just want to go back down.... maybe for 3.1.2 i will use blackra1n!!!Last edited by drog92; 05-04-2011 at 01:08 AM.

Well I was trying to restore data from a back up of the same firmware. And I hit the backup button at least 10 times and watched it back up.

Have you right-clicked the iPod in the iTunes device list, and hit "Restore from backup?" That should bring up a long list of all device backups iTunes has, and from there you can choose which one you'd like.
Also, yes, you can go to iOS 3.1.x at any time on an iPhone 3G. Just put your device into DFU mode, and restore to a 3.1.2 (or .3) IPSW--just be ready to kick the device out of the 1015 error you'll almost assuredly get at the end of the restore. You may also need to restore to 3.1.x /twice/ successively before you'll get a usable device, this is normal and is no cause for alarm.

I have done the restore from back up, but it doesn't give me my app store apps back. I have to download them and start over. But I took my chronus and restored them from my iPhone so that isn't really a big deal.
And the iPhone, I can do that no matter what iTunes I have? Because I have know about the error and restoring a few times just in case

Oh, you were missing the actual apps themselves? Yeah, you'll have to redownload the .ipa files themselves (but those are normally by iTunes like music files in iPod.app anyway, so shouldn't be too onerous).
You should be good to downgrade on iTunes 10.2.2 on down. No guarantees it'll work in the future, but odds are good that you will be able to.
