I have an iphone 4 32 gig on fw 4.1 and jail broken originally with green poison back in january.
Now my question is can i upgrade to the latest firmware and still use green poison to unlock again or can i some how keep my phone unlocked whilst upgrading fw?
also i have a load of apps from cydia and some downloaded apps which i dont want to loose so would these need to be backed up first somehow ?
and lastly if i can't upgrade to the latest firmware can i fairly easily/safely upgrade to 4.2 or what ever version green poison jailbreaks .
Unless you used tiny umbrella to preserve your bb and used GP to jailbreak.
Yes, you can get your iphone 4 to 4.3.2 by restoring to custom firmware of 4.3.2 created either by Snowbreeze 2.6 or Pwnage 4.3.2 to get untethered jailbreak.
You are preserving your unlockable baseband this way to be unlocked with ultrasn0w version 1.2.2
You can use Pkgbackup to backup cydia stuffs but your apps you will have to sync with Itunes again.
Make sure you sync with itunes before you do any restore so you can backup all your recent contacts, notes and so forth.

Since you are getting service i may not be correct but it does seem as tho you do not need an unlock. I know you should also be able to get it unlocked from o2 either for free or a small fee
This is easy. Download the stock 4.3.2 from google iclarified firmare onto desktop.
Now update itunes to the latest.
Shift + restore to 4.3.2 ipsw.
Once restored, don't setup yet if you want to do a backup restore.
Now run redsn0w RC 14 and do the jailbreak.
Update Cydia and now you can setup in itunes as a backup restore.
Install back your apps and all your info will come back.
Done.
If you want to find out if you have a factory unlocked, then put a different sim in there that has service. I am sure there is another GSM provider in your area
