iPhone 4 downgrade

I have iphone4 iOS 4.1 and want to be able to run animated boot logos etc but cannot on this iOS. If I update via iTunes it will take me to ios4.3. Will I still be able to jailbreak that iOS? Or will I need to then downgrade to 4.2.1? And one rebroken and finished will all my currently installed mods still be on or will I have to start from scratch? Please help?

You can go to 4.3.2 and still use animated boot logos. Use redsnow 0.9.6rc14 to jailbreak, you will see the option too add animated boot logos.

I have done a lit of modding to my phone so I need to make sure I have inderstood you. Update via iTunes to the latest which is 4.3.2 which I then jailbreak using redsnow 0.9.6rc14 whilst jailbreaking it will give the option of adding anim bootlogos. Is that right?

Yup, you will see a few options. Choose the option to install cydia as well as the animated boot logo option.
