    Default Missing carrier settings

Hi there all, can anyone tell me of the latest, greatest and best method to get the 'Carrier Settings' back on my iPhone.

Today I have searched the Internet for 7 hours solid. I have tried EVERY method I can find on the net, of which NONE of them work.

    I have an iPhone 4 running 4.3.2 jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.6rc14

So this is my last resort, surely there has to be a reason or a conflict that the carrier settings tab vanishes ?

Personally I would rather find the cause, than patch the problem with a plaster. Beggers can't be choosers I suppose,

    Thanks,

    Snige.

    Four questions:

    1) What carrier (in what country) are you using/trying to use with your iPhone?

    2) What's your baseband version? You can check under Settings->General->About->Modem Firmware.

    3) Under Settings->General->About, what does your iPhone say under "Network" and "Carrier"?

    4) If you use a non-Apple carrier: is your phone unlocked via ultrasn0w, or officially (carrier or factory unlocked)?

Hi thanks for responing. In the interim i have restored and rejail broken my phone. This time instead of using pkgBackup i installed all 51 cydia apps manually. Time consuming i can tell you, but so far so good.

It was the process of using pkgBackup that would remove the carrier settings. I have done the whole restore, jailbreak and resync both app stote and cydia THREE times today.

There is plenty of evidence on the net that there are countless people all experiencing exactly the same problem with carrier settings. Each one has a solution to fix all. Manually installing was my fix, touch wood.

Just out of interest, dont you think its a bit of a coincidence that there are soooo many people having the same set of issues ? Or is the problem something that could be caused by multiple reasons ?

    Look forward to your thoughts

    Snige.

Hi, I have question on resetting to factory settings of my Iphone 4 IOS 4.2.1 with baseband 3.01.01. Currently my Iphone 4 has version 4.2.1 with baseband 3.10.01 and it is locked to service provider, also it is jailbroken. If I reset to factory setting or network settings, will my iphone 4 remains on same version like 4.2.1 and with same baseband 3.10.01? Kindly help me in this.
    Many Thanks

Yes it will remain on 4.2.1 The only thing that changes is the actual phone settings. Firmware and baseband will not change. But in my experiance resetting to factory settings is a pain. If youve go a problem your trying to fix, I recommend doing some more Googling. Theres alot of people out there and Im willing to bet someone will have exactually the same issue as you.

Ive also just found the culprit of my problem. It was a Vodafone NZ GPRS fix that I downloaded via Cydia a few months ago. Just downloaded it agin and it immediatly created the initial issue I had. So...Im not restoring againfor the 4th time today. Bugger !

Many Thanks for yor information, what exactly meant by phone settings? does that mean it will earse only applications, contacts , photos, videos and songs? and will it be unactivated again? so next time again I need to activate it to with valid service provider sim?

If your iPhone is jailbroken, I strongly advise you not "Erase all Content and Settings" on your iPhone. It will put your phone into an unusable state and a restore will be required.

Resetting network settings, however, is just fine.

To answer your question: yes a re-activation would be needed, and erasing all content and settings will not change your baseband version or firmware installation by itself.
