Help to restore, jailbreak, and unlock iphone 4, iOS4.2.1
Hello all,
This is my first time try to do jailbreak and unlock myself. Please slow down and guide me step-by step .
I have an iphone 4, iOS4.2.1, modem firmware is 01.59.00, unlock with Tmobile now. I need to resetore this iphone with the same iOS4.2.1 , jailbreal and unlock again due to some corruption in the iOS installing in the phone now it won't let me install anything else from Cydia at all. It can d/l data from Cydia but when doing installation, where the errors occured in RED color then nothing get installed.
I did download the ipsw of 4.2.1, pwnage tool ( for Mac), then run the tool to create the ipsw custome already. up to the step to restore, I am afraid to do it if something not correct then I will lose the unlock capability.
I just want to learn how to do it so I dont have to spend $30 for some1 to do jailbreak
please help me.Last edited by bubuham; 04-27-2011 at 01:24 PM.

since you have a mac the easiest thing would be to follow this guide iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 4 Using PwnageTool (Mac) [4.2.1]
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

Looks like you have 4.2.1 SHSH. So you can follow the guide j3st3r gave you. You can even make a custom 4,3,2 if you want with pwnage tool. your choice.

looking at the guide j3st3r gave, there is a step that using itunes to restore. Question is if the itune will upgrade my firmware when selecting the custome ipsw that was created by pwnage tool.
Do I need to run TSS server when doing restore custom from itunes?

If you choose to restore to a custom 4.2.1 then yes you need to run the TSS server. If you choose to make a custom 4.3.2 then no, you dont need to run TSS server.

should I stay with 4.2.1 or upgrade to 4.3.2 ? if I upgrade to 4.3.2, can the phone still unlockable? and all the functions such *** mms, GPS, sms etc ... will work properly? cuz the big issue I have now on the phone is the GPS not turn-on at all when I using maps app, or magellan map. Even though, the location service was on the "ON" position.

As long as you only restore to custom firmware you will still be able to unlock.

Ok
Tks
Any chance of getting step-by-step instructions on how to do it?
Previously I had a 3Gs and I jailbroke via jailbreakme.com, is this greenpoison similar? Will I get the same results?
Tks again

Do you want to go for the latest 4.3.2 and still preserve your current baseband ?
