How to Jailbreak and perserve baseband? Running 4.2.1, baseband 03.10.01 & have SHSH.
Currently I am looking to jailbreak my phone, but I want to eventaully be able to unlock it so that I can sell it when the new iPhone comes out.
At the moment I am running 4.2.1 and my modem firmware is listed as 03.10.01. Since this is below 5.13.04, is my phone still unlockable?
Also, just to confirm, I should jailbreak my phone using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 and it should preserve this baseband, correct?
I believe that I have my 4.2.1 SHSH blobs saved somewhere on my HDD, so if something happens I should be able to revert. Also, last time I looked into jailbreaking 4.2.1 the only method was a tethered jailbreak, is the new Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 unteathered now?
That is not the current baseband for 4.3.2, you can use redsnow to jailbreak if you want to go to 4.3.2 or just jailbreak on 4.2.1 with greenpoison rc6.1.
I'll probably just update to 4.3.2 and jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14, which seems to be the current version. Would there be any advantages to keeping my older firmware and jailbreaking with GreenPoison, or would I experience pretty much the same outcome?
Also, is there any way to mess up my phone while doing this? It looks pretty straight-forward, but I don't want to end up bricking my phone in the process.
Skies are clear, so I don't think we'll be anticipating an electrical storm.
One final quick question about the unlock. How does unlocking work? I live in Canada and I'm currently with Bell. There is really only one other mobile competitor and that's Rogers.
Since I am currently with Bell, does this mean that if I put a Rogers micro-SIM in my phone it would not work or detect the cell network settings? From what I understood, the phone came unlocked and I simply activated it through Bell. Would this then lock my phone to Bell, while it was previously unlocked?
Also, is the phone locked to that particular SIM or just the carrier. Worst case, if I cannot unlock it, could I just sell it to another bell customer and they use their own SIM card?
