Default How to Upgrade from one jailbreak directly to another jailbreak.

    Hello.

I am new to this I need some help.

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 that has been jailbroken using Greenpois0n RC6.1 but now that the new iOS 4.3.2 has been released I would love to know how to upgrade to that firmware without having to restore the phone back to factory then update to iOS 4.3.2 using iTunes then have to rejailbreak that and then have to re download all my cydia apps again. So is there a way to just update from one jailbreak to a newer jailbreak just like I use to do with iTunes before my phone was jailbroken.

Cheers for any help people can give me.

Unlike the non jailbreak whereby you can just update your firmware, here with jailbreak, it is better to do a restore and rejailbreak again. If you do an update, you might encounter problems with the new jailbreak of 4.3.2. The main reason is itunes will erase all jailbreak on your iphone.

I was hoping to do the same thing. Took me forever to setup all my apps the way I originally had them. I don't look forward to having to do that again. I was hoping there was a better solution.

The PKGBackup app, available via Cydia, is a lifesaver in this regards. I have used it over and over to restore my Cydia apps and even app layout/folders. It is easy to use and can store backups in your calendar or Dropbox.

In other words, you can do a backup immediately before doing a new jailbreak and very quickly get everything back the way you had it before.

    Cheers!

    Thanks! Your recomendation worked well.

I however made a mistake that is my own fault. I didnt read that the jailbreak for 4.3.2 was not compatible with firmware 05.16.02. I just thought since the OS 4.3.1 jb worked, I should be able to upgrade and jb 4.3.2. After completing the jb I noticed I had no ATT service. Then I read what I should have before hand, so like I said, this is my fault. The only way I could figure out how to get my phone back functional was to to a restore through iTunes. That worked, but now I'm stuck on 4.3.2 with no jailbreak.

Once you have a jb phone and its taken back, you realize how much you like it.

Thanks again for the PKGBackup recomendation thought. For the few minutes I had the phone jailbroken, it worked well!
