I have a 3GS 32gb, already jailbroken on 3.1.3, and want to upgrade to 4.2.1. I have used Pwnage Tool to create a custom IPSW, but when I go to iTunes to use it, it gets to the "verifying with Apple" part, and then a window pops up that says "The iPhone cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Is this something someone else has seen? I've searched around, but haven't seen this problem on the forum.
Just saw on the tinyumbrella site that Cydia is having issues, checked Cydia on the phone and the green SHSH list has disappeared from the top. Is this the reason?
Correction: tried it again and the SHSH's showed up. I'll try the restore and report back.
Update: now when I try to restore it gets a little farther, then I get a message stating that an unknown error(1600) has occured.
Update II: started from scratch, used Pwnage Tool to create new custom IPSW. Restore went a lot farther, almost to the end, then it give me error 21 or 29.

I believe cydia's shsh and payment servers are currently down. The shsh doesn't show up in mine also can't purchase nothing in cydia either. Give them sometime to fix it. It's been down most of the day.
