upgrade from 3GS on Gophone prepaid to Iphone 4 jb'd?
Hi All,
General question here concerning the Iphone 4. I apologize if I'm putting this question in the wrong section. I presently have a 3GS jailbroken for almost a year running on 3.1.3. I do not have a contract on it, I use GoPhone prepaid with the 1000 texts/month for $10. The method works well for me. I use my phone alot for pictures and since I like to constantly upgrade, I'm very interested in upgrading shortly to the iphone 4. My questions / concerns though are this:
1. How can I get the standard sim card down to size of a micro sim w/o wrecking it with the rudimentary scissor technique? Could I possibly go into AT&T store and give them some kind of line that I'd to get my phone # on the standard sim transferred over to a micro sim? I'm sure they will ask a ton of questions no?
2. I'll have to buy a used iphone 4 on ebay and get it jailbroken (don't believe it needs to be unlocked since I'm on AT&T network and my 3GS I don't believe is unlocked). What is the best firmware to buy a phone on that won't screw me from getting it jb'd?
Thanks for any help!
Anybody have any input? Not sure if I put this in the correct area of this forum. Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the response. Just seeing this reply now for some reason. I'll buy a sim cutter. I was mainly wondering if I can just take my existing 3GS sim running on Gophone prepaid and cut it down and put it in an iphone 4 once its jailbroken (will try for 4.3.2 or lower). I don't need it unlocked since it will still be on AT&T but if I buy a phone 4 off of this site or ebay, do I need to worry about anything such as being activated previously / baseband / etc. I guess the steps would be:
buy phone and jailbreak first, then cut sim existing sim and stick in new phone? I just jailbroke a friends old iphone 3G using redsnow on firmware 4.2.1 and it worked fine then tested it out with my existing sim card from the 3gs on gophone prepaid. Not sure if these would be the same type of steps on the iphone 4. Did some searching on this site but wasn't sure what keywords to put in to get hits to what i was looking for.

Yes, your Goiphone prepaid sim for the 3gs if cut properly can be used on iphone 4. You don't need unlock , so you really don't need to worry about baseband. Just make sure when you pucchase this iphone from Ebay, it must be US ATNT iphone and not other countries iphone.
Currently the latest firmware of 4.3.2 is an untethered jailbreak,so get it now before the next release of firmware.
Save your 4.3.2 shsh blob immediately using Tiny Umbrella to secure your future restore again.

Thanks for the info! I guess there's no way I could go into an AT&T store and ask them for a micro sim programmed for my existing #? I'm assuming there are no gophone's out currently using the microsim (only iphone 4 and ipad2?) so I couldn't give any kind of excuse like I did originally (bought a used gophone on ebay and needed a sim card so they gave me one and I set it up online to my 3gs and got a new #). I hate to cut up my existing sim for the iphone 4 and find out something went wrong then I can't put it back in my 3gs to continue having service.

In Asia, if you have an iphone 4, and if you purchase a prepaid sim, they provide the service for cutting it to microsim and they will guarantee it to work.
Well , this is Asia and they want your business, just because for this couple of dollars selling you the prepaid sim card. Wish that the service providers in US and Canada will do the same
