Default wanting to JB on new iPhone with 4.3 iOS, HELP please....confused with steps.

Hi all. I have been reading quite a lot on here and iClarified. I am still confused quite a bit. Can someone please check my steps before I attempt to JB? Thanks in advance. I would really appreciate it if someone can answer all these things. I can't figure it out after reading a lot, I just got more confused. I did save my SHSH blobs with Tinyumbrella, whatever that does.

info: I just got a iPhone 4 from Apple the other day. It is running 4.3 and has baseband of 4.10.01. I want to update it from iOS 4.3 to 4.3.2.

    Questions:
    1. My hackintosh is not working out with Pwnage so I am going to use sn0wbreeze.

    2. sn0wbridge will let me update the iOS while keeping the baseband at 4.10.01 right? Do I really need to keep the baseband if 4.10.01 is still unlockable?

    3. Pwnage and sn0wbridge are similar because they both allow you to update the iOS while preserving your current baseband?

    4. redsn0w will update your iOS and jailbreak it but will not preserve your baseband?

    5. ultrasn0w is used to unlock an iphone after using sn0bridge or pwnage?

    6. does it matter what version of sn0wbridge or redsn0w that I use to update my iOS or are the different versions tied to a different version of iOS or could I just use the latest version and update, even if I have a much older iOS? for example redsn0w0.9.6rc14 is for iOS 4.3.2, while redsn0w0.9.6rc12 is for iOS 4.3.1??

    2. The only baseband that is currently unlockable for the iPhone 4 is 1.59.00. Since you don't have that, there is not much need for you to preserve 4.10.01. Just let iTunes update your baseband. And unlocking is for people who don't have the AT&T or official carriers. Do you need to use it on an unofficial carrier?

1 & 3. Pwnage tool (for mac) and Sn0wbreeze (for windows) are similar programs that run on different OS. Both allow for the creation of "custom firmware" which means that you will be able to install new firmware on your device without updating your baseband and the firmware will be pre-jailbroken. Again, unless you need an unlock, you don't need to preserve your baseband.

    4. Redsn0w does not update your iOS, Redsn0w allows you the option to update with iTunes regularly (updating your baseband) and then you can run Redsn0w which will jailbreak the stock firmware.

    5. Yes that's correct ONLY if you have an unlockable baseband. You don't so ultrasn0w will do nothing

    6. You'll want to use the software that is compatible with the iOS that you are attempting to jailbreak. In your case, use redsn0w0.9.6rc14. Again, it doesn't actually update your iOS, so do that yourself in iTunes.

Since you don't need to unlock your phone, make it easy for you and just install stock firmware. You don't need to mess with custom firmware in order to do this. Go into iTunes and click update (like normal), let iTunes update your phone to 4.3.2 and then after it is done, you can use Redsn0w to jailbreak 4.3.2. If you're running windows 7, I would suggest opening Redsn0w with xp compatibility mode, it works better

Thanks for a very infOrmative answer. That was very precisely answers than any article. I travel a lot so having ability to insert a pre paid som card would be nice. Currently intravel with the iPhone and use A's a camera or alarm only because it is lOcked. Thanks again

No worries. Just for my clarification, are you looking into doing this in order to use pre paid sim cards overseas? If so I'm sorry that probably wasn't the answers you were hoping for.
