Okay, try this:
-Make sure your Hosts files are correct (no 74.8... gs.apple)
-Open TinyUmbrella
-Start the TSS Server
-Open iTunes and connect ur phone
-Restore to whatever firmware you want
-Kick out of Recovery Mode w/ RecBoot when u get the 1015 or 1013 Error
I know you've already done this but I'm not sure why u can't get out of recovery w/ RecBoot or TU.
BTW, what firmware r u trying to run?

-You can run a search on computer for iTunes.dll
-Copy and paste this into your RecBoot folder
-Reboot your computer
-Try to run RecBoot again
That might fix the problem but it might not....

So none of this stuff worked. I restored my iPhone on my bros iMac at that worked fine. I edited the hosts file, deleted TU and everything and when I went to update my iPad1 it froze on the update as well. So realizing that this nonsense was due somehow related to iTunes and not the iDevices I completely uninstalled every single trace of iTunes and then reinstalled it. The restore worked perfectly after that. I am never using TU again.
