3G jailbreak

Hi guys, please can you tell me if there is a jailbreak for iPhone 3G firmware 4.2.1
I really don't want to have to create a custom firmware. I have jailbroken a few 3GS in the past and used greenpoision can this be used for the 3G ?

But does that require me do do a custom firmware?

Nope. You will need a copy of a regular 4.2.1 firmware to use with redsnow. But there is no custom firmware or restoring needed.

Also is the 3G able to be carrier unlocked?

Not of you are on 4.2.1 already. Only way to unlock then is with iPad baseband. But you will lose gps of you do that.
