Unfortunately the only way to unlock 05.15.04 is to update the baseband to the iPad 06.15 baseband which has some known gps issues. Or you could pay $175 for an official unlock but I wouldn't.

Are you willing to possibly lose the pinpoint gps (gps will still work but might only use cell towers and won't be as accurate). If so we need to know if you have windows or mac because there is 2 different programs to update to the iPad baseband.

I'm gonna go ahead and tell you how to do it assuming you have Windows and you don't want to pay 175$ for something that you can get for free.

You're going to want to download a program called redsn0w 0.9.6b5. You will also need the iPad 6.15 baseband, I believe you can find those in the download section here. Once that is done you can startup redsn0w. I would strongly suggest that you right click on redsn0w and open it with windows xp compatibility mode and with admin rights (both are in properties). I couldn't get mine to work without that.

Next you just need to follow all the redsn0w steps and make sure you check the iPad baseband update. It will have you select where you downloaded 6.15 an then have you go into a mode called dfu. Make sure your iPhone is off at the beginning of this otherwise you won't go into dfu.

If you have questions about that just let us know. After that you're jailbroken and unlockable. Go into Cydia and download a package called "ultrasn0w". This will unlock you but it will fail if you didn't update your baseband. Let us know how it goes

The dev team doesnt generally announce dates for iPhone baseband unlock timetables. I know they have been working on a brute force unlock for awhile now but I haven't heard any updates. I believe @musclenerd is working on a way to be able to downgrade 06.15 so if that comes out, you would be able to downgrade back to 5.15.04 if and when that unlock does come out

On 6.15 (the iPad baseband) your GPS will still work, it just wont be as precise which isn't that big of deal unless you will use navigation apps like Google maps or Navigon. It will generally locate you within a couple hundred feet rather than a couple feet. Other apps that use location information only use it based on the town your in. Safari, weather and other location aware apps will still be able to tell where you are. Other than that, there is no side effects that I know about anyway.

I have unlocked a few phones using this baseband and I have never seen signal issues nor heard from anyone that has had any. I have not heard the bluetooth thing but the iPhone has a very restricted Bluetooth capability anyway so that isn't something that I would be concerned about personally. According to most users, the majority of people don't even see GPS issues so it's not a guarantee that you'll have issues but it is something you need to consider. If you decide to wait for an unlock on your current baseband, you might end up waiting awhile so don't let anyone get your hopes up about upcoming unlocks unless they're verified by the dev team.

Google for a guide to use SAM for your iPhone. That will fix your battery drain.
