Not positive, but I think that apple is still signing it. On my cydia homescreen the highest iOS listed is 4.2.1+. When apple stops signing, it seems that cydia will add that iOS to it's server. Since I shsh'd at 3.1.3, I can downgrade to any iOS between 3.1.3 and 4.2.1. Those iOS after 3.1.3 were added automatically.

Can anyone confirm that Apple is still signing 4.3.1 now?

^Yes --- and you can test yourself.

Download iSHSHit (via Cydia), select 4.3.1 and deselect Cydia, then save. The request is sent to Apple. It worked on my 3GS.

The same thing can also be performed using TinyUmbrella version 4.30.05 still available at: The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Note: TinyUmbrella works on NON-JB'd iDevices

You can only save your blobs in jailbroken state. It doesn't work on non-jailbroken phones. You can jailbreak 4.3.1 with Pwnage tool 4.3. Hope this helps.

    Incorrect.

TinyUmbrella will save 'available' SHSH blobs for ANY iDevice regardless of jb'd or non-jb'd status.

I want to get a new iPhone 4 today...don't know what OS it will have on it but I would like to update it to 4.3.1 (assume that's the only option I would have) and jailbreak it.

Would this be possible (with downloaded firmware 4.3.1)?

    Maybe. There are NO guarantees.

As of this minute, Apple is still 'signing' 4.3.1 therefore SHSH blobs can be retrieved and saved ..AND.. loading iOS 4.3.1 IS possible. That's the best (and only) option you have.

^No. Just connect and Save ALL.

Also read the web site: The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella instructions. The Cydia server is having a few problems 'at the moment'. You should try to get 4.3.1 directly from Apple instead of Cydia.
