Default iPhone 3G FW 3.1.3 - Can't JB or restore. Nothing works

    Hey there

    I have an iPhone 3G, currently on 3.1.3 .. I think.

It was originally on 3.1.2 and had an untethered JB with blackra1n. I was asked to to just erase everything on the phone and jb it again, so I figured I could just do a full restore via iTunes but I kept encountering error 1015.

I then used Tiny Umbrella to kick it out of the restore loop, then tried to jailbreak it again using blackra1n. There were no signal bars, and the wi-fi stopped working after I restarted the phone.

After, I ended up upgrading it to 3.1.3 then using iReb and sn0wbreeze to jailbreak it, however I still was experiencing issues with the signal but the wifi was fine.
Cydia however could not update, nor was I able to add any repos. After I attempted to, Cydia would then keep crashing on Loading Data and I'd keep having fix it.

I also tried jailbreaking it with redsn0w but it kept saying, "unrecognized ipsw" so I just went ahead with sn0wbreeze because it has worked for me before.

Right now it is on 3.1.3 and I am trying to restore it back to non-jailbroken 3.1.3 however, I keep experiencing error 17. I get the Emergency calling screen, but during the boot-up and restore mode screens I get sn0wbreeze's logos.

How do I get my phone back into a fully functional jailbroken state? I feel like it's broken forever.

you have to point redsn0w at a 3.1.2 ipsw not the 3.1.3 ipsw for it to work

Yes, I tried both 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 to see if either one of them would get recognize but they don't. I also tried different versions of redsn0w but that didn't do the trick either :/

you need 0.9.2 or 0.9.4 for 3.1.3, did you try either/both?

I tried 0.9.6 actually, b6 and rc12. I'll try that too once I manage to actually restore my phone x_x

    Thanks for the tip!

Edit: I finally got my iPhone to work again!

I kept getting 1063 errors when restoring to 3.1.3, rebooted my computer and took out my sim card then I managed to restore again to 3.1.3 which fixed sn0wbreeze showing up in restore mode and when booting.
I then got 1015 error while restoring but ignored it and used Tiny Umbrella to kick it out of the recover loop.
I used redsn0w 0.9.2 and at first my iphone wouldn't go into DFU mode the same way as mentioned and then kept getting stuck at "waiting for reboot" Somehow after, I managed to get it into DFU mode normally and voila, redsn0w just did it thing and it worked!
No wifi problems, no signal problems, only problem is that the phone freezes when I have to restart springboard but all in all I'm pretty happy
