Default Please, look into my black screen of death, i'm bored of it

So, here we go, having seen many posts on the forum's i'm adding another to the theme. I'll be brief:
    Phone 3g 8G, software 4.2.1 build 8C148
bought on ebay, has had the glass replaced, (i believe diy).
When i got it, it swithched on and seemed to have 4/5 battery.
Went through a few screens to see it worked (it did) then switched it off.
Now it is showing only black screen.
Recognized by computer and is charging. Did a hard reset (several times) nothing. Restored it and updated software (think it was 4.2.0 before), still nothing.
It vibrates when i phone it and It vibrates when i toggle the little button on the side. BUT IT HAS A BLACK SCREEN.

So ladies and gentleman, much like a teenage offspring it wears black and ignores me and my heartfelt investment.

I would never slap a child but i'm willing to stamp on an iphone, stop me before i hurt one.

    Regards D

btw. i've not owned an iphone before so if you ask a tech qu. please point me in the direction where to look to provide with a competent ans, cheers

either the lcd is out or the lcd connection has come loose, google how to replace an iphone lcd and there are several sites that give detailed instructions on how to do it, first i would try reseating the lcd connection before buying a new lcd ($20)
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

    Okaaaay, thanks for that.

btw, i'm guessing the phone should be off before i stick my fingers inside so, with the screen being black and all, how do i make sure it's turned off?
I've pushed the on button for varying lengths of time and it still vibrates when i toggle the side switch. And if it doesn't vibrate, is that a confirmation it's off?

    Thanks for the help.

that's usually how I check, I will hold the power button for about 10 seconds and then swipe where the slide to power off would normally be, give about 30 seconds and then turn it to vibrate, if it's off it will not vibrate
