What to do?

Right now I'm in the process of getting my iphone unlocked through the IMEI method. My phone is in 4.2.1 never been jailbroken, but I want to still have the option to jailbreak it so I'm guessing updating 4.3.2 is not the way to go. But 4.3.1 is safe?

So the question/problem is how do I restore my iphone once its unlocked and still have the option to jailbreak later as in restore to 4.2.1 or 4.3.1...i dont know how to do it lol

if i was you i would Jailbreak it now on 4.3.1 and then that way you can start to save your shsh on Cydia (Just click make my life easier the first time you load cydia)

To do it now just download the firmware you need from here iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From and save it to your desktop

Then download redsn0w from here Dev-Team Blog save that to your desktop too.

Then do a shift+restore in itunes and point it to the firmware you downloaded.

Then run redsn0w to jail break.

Once done run Cydia and make my life easier, Then finally download Tiny from http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ and run that with your Jailbroken phone connected and click save my shsh.

I would jailbreak it now, then save your shsh before upgrading to 4.3.1 and re jail breaking that

He will not get any shsh to save below 4.3.1 as apple have stopped signing them. Just because he jailbreaks at 4.2.1 does not mean he will get shsh for that, So it would be a pointless exercise to jailbreak at 4.2.1 then 4.3.1

so with this method I will not be updating to the 4.3.1 firmware just back to 4.2.1?

btw I have an iphone 4 and I have a mac computer

If you don't have SHSH blobs for 4.3.1 and 4.2.1, you can't install anything other than what Apple is signing at the time (which might be 4.3.2)
