Friend needs help with finding out what iphone is jail broken with

Hey guys,

my friend purchased a jail broken iphone 4.1 on ebay the other day and he wants to update to the latest OS. So would it be safe to update just like that or would he have to uninstall the jailbreak (im a noob to jailbreaking). The problem is that he is not sure which program (redsnow, greenpoison) the iphone is jailbroken with and neither does the seller

He can update to 4.3.1 and jailbreak with redsn0w

Just download the 4.3.1 firmware form here do a shift+restore in itunes than run redsn0w for the jailbrek
