Can i update jailbroken iphone to new jailbreak?

I have jailbroken my iPhone and run in version 4.2

If i update my iPhone 4 to the 4.3 version and download the new jailbreak for the 4.3 will my sources/packages etc be lost?

By sources/packages, i'm assuming you mean with cydia? If so, yes. Cydia and programs installed through cydia are not backed up automatically.
Unless you have the SHSH for 4.3, you won't be able to restore to it.

If i backup all cydia stuff, will i be able to put them back on if i upgrade?

you can use pkgbackup (pay app) or aptbackup (free). Aptbackup just creates a list of what you had installed, and then when you reinstall it, gives you the option to restore. I've had some issues with aptbackup in the past though, it didn't recognize that I had a backup anywhere, but it seems others have had success with that app.

I just dont want to lose all my stuff cause i modded my phone exactly as i want it.. you think i should take the risk?

There's not much reason to upgrade, imo, since you're already on 4.2, and there aren't many apps that won't run. There's more apps compatible with 4.2 than there is with 4.3.1. If your phone works fine, don't bother upgrading just for the sake of upgrading.

Thanks, yeah i guess there aren't many new features in the 4.3 update so it ain't worth it.
