4.3.1 >> 4.2.1 winterboard issues maybe related to the new mobilesubstrate version

Well, dunno if this is the right place for this but i could't find another section that suited my question better than this ome, so here i go.

I upgraded my iphone 4 to iOS 4.3.1 2 days ago and lost all my data in th process due to a bug in itunes combined with my external HDD's driver. Well, it took me pretty long to get everything back the way it used to be, but all winterboard themes i manually istalled didn't work, only those installed via cydia and if i modding em didn't work either. Since i put a lot of work into modding some themes for my personal taste i decided to downgrade to 4.2.1 again in order to get my themes to work again. Now back on 4.2.1 they still won't work. Thus i think its because of the new mobile substrate version. If i'm wrong... How
Do i get my themes to work again/to work at all on 4.3.1 which requires the new mobilesubstrate in order for winterboard to work at all, or alternatively if i'm right is there a way to downgrade mobile substrate (while staying on 4.2.1)?
