Default IPhone 3g stuck in recovery mode, need help

I bought this iphone off someone who just took out his simcard and handed me the phone. it was jailbroken and unlocked

This is my first iphone, i tried to restore the phone but i didnt have any downloaded firmware to restore it back to, and it went into recovery mode

So i've been lookin all over the internet to see what i can do. I've downloaded firmware and tried to restore using the downloaded firmware and error 1015 keeps comin up.

is there anyone that can help me?

What did you do exactly? Error 1015 means the restore is successful but the baseband wasn't changed. Which is normal.

What needs to be known is the firmware version you were on or tried to restore to and if the baseband was 6.15.00 which can create some roadblocks.

You should try downloading a stock 3.1.3 firmware here on MMi from the downloads section, then hold shift and click restore in iTunes to restore to the 3.1.3 firmware. Then try to exit recovery mode when you get error 1015. Then we can go from there. Exit recovery mode with tinyumbrella from thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com

    Hi i.Annie

I had the exact same problem as BCar and I've followed the steps and got the iPhone out of recovery mode. However, it's now stuck in emergency call mode and on iTunes it 'The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported'. Is there anything I can do? Just bought it off eBay so I don't know what carrier it is linked to, I live in the UK by the way - any help would be very much appreciated.

Jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.4. (point to a 3.1.2 ipsw even though you're on 3.1.3) in redsn0w to jb and bypass emergency call screen.

Trying to break it with redsn0w 0.9.4 but when I get to the screen 'Please connect your device in recovery mode'. When I put the iPhone in DFU mode redsn0w doesn't recognise it and it just sits on this screen - don't know what to do?

If it's any help, the 'Installed Baseband Version' is 06.15.00-6.4_M3S2

managed to get this sorted, thanks for your help iannie!
