Default i4 Restore from ios 4.1 to ios 4.3.1 issues

i was using this guide to restore my gf's iphone 4 to 4.3.1 but i keep getting problems.

i got the 1013 error like i was supposed to, but i cannot get the thing out of dfu/recovery mode. i used the program that the guide had included, but no luck. it just sat on a black screen, the only way i knew it was on was from my pc making noise.

i eventually used cfw i built with sn0wbreeze, but i am planning on doing my iphone 4 later, and i would prefer to upgrade it using stock fw but blocking the baseband update as i am on the original baseband.

any ideas?, i am following the guide to the t

If I were you I'd just make a custom firmware with Sn0wbreeze and restore to that. You wouldn't run into error 1013 that way.

i will probably do that, the only reason i am hesitant is because it seems like there is a new version of sn0wbreeze every week that fixes bugs, i don't wanna have to restore my phone again to fix bugs and i am OCD enough to want to restore it till its perfect, lol

All jailbreak tools can be buggy. Even the final product of very stable tools such as redsn0w can go wrong. If you'd prefer to keep trying stock, that's fine and all, it's just you can't exit recovery mode on anything above 4.2.1. You could try using TinyUmbrella's fix recovery option also. Set device in dfu, click fix recovery, then do the restore.

edit: made a mistake. after clicking fix recovery there shouldn't be a need for restore.

fix recovery crashed when i tried it, and the fix recovery tool that was listed in the guide didn't work for me either.

Well then I would just go with custom firmware then.
