Default iPhone 3GS on 4.0.2 - Best way to unlock

    Hi all,

I have a non-modified iPhone 3GS 4.0.2 sitting here that needs to be unlocked. It has never been modified before and is running bb 5.13.04.

What is the best path for me to follow if I need to get it unlocked?

So far I tried upgrading it to 4.2.1; however I ran into the shsh issue with itunes. Tiny umbrella only has 4.1 and 4.3.1 shsh's saved.
I tried modifying the hosts file on Win 7; however, I got the 3194 error anyway.
Can i just use the latest redsn0w to jailbreak the 4.0.2 and flash it with 06.15.00 or do I have to upgrade to 4.1?

Then after Limera1n go to Cydia and unlock with Ultrasn0w.

Use limera1n to jailbreak, then use redsn0w to install cydia and 06.15.00 right?

Would the latest redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 work on 4.0.2 for jailbreak instead of limera1n?

No, you dont need redsnow. You will use the icon that limera1n puts on your springboard to install cydia.

No, redsnow does not work on 4.0.2

and do not think about going to 06.15.00, you have a much more stable baseband already.
If you do decide to upgrade IOS, modify the ipsw first using snowbreeze and use the new custom ipsw, do not use a stock ipsw or you will be forced to use 06.15.00 baseband to unlock.

Right...it wouldn't be beneficial for you to use the iPad baseband when you have a perfectly good one right now.
