Help please!!!

Ok so long story short i have a 3gs new bootrom or whatever(i bought it brand new like 8 months ago) I had to update to 4.2.1 a little while back and I've been periodically checking if theirs a jailbreak for me so... As of right now is my only option downgrading? I don't want a tethered jailbreak btw any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for taking your time to help =]

On 4.2.1 you can jailbreak untethered with greenpoison rc6.1.
You can even go to 4.3.1 now and jailbreak untethered with redsnow 0.9.6rc11
