    Default Sn0wbreeze 2.51 vs Redsn0w 0.9.6rc11 on 3GS for firmware 4.21

Hi. I currently have my 3GS (old bootrom) on iOS 4.02. I'm thinking to upgrade my firmware to 4.21 to get GameCenter. I am wary of iOS 4.31 due to battery drainage issues I have read about as well as compatibility issues (for now) with some of my jailbreak apps. I read a webpage that claimed that Sn0wbreeze is not as stable as Redsn0w and I am wondering in what way that this is true.

I have originally jailbroken my phone with blackra1n for 3.12 then moved to Sn0wbreeze for 4.02. I enjoy the ease of downgrading (if necessary) using Sn0wbreeze. I have a large number of apps in my phone and each restoration is very time consuming. I'm wondering which method would be a better way to jailbreak in terms of stability, battery life and ease. Is iOS 4.21 a good iOS version to use versus 4.31 versus 4.1? Thanks for the input.

4.2.1 is very solid and stable for the 3GS. Haven't heard anything performance-wise (good or bad) about 4.3.1 for the 3GS, though I do agree the incompatibilities on 4.3.1 with JB apps are annoying (but increasingly sporadic as the apps get upgraded).

If you're trying to preserve your baseband (which you should, IMO) I'd use PwnageTool to make a custom firmware before I'd use sn0wbreeze. Redsn0w is the most useful current "end-user" tool for jailbreaking an iPhone already on stock 4.3.1 (which you shouldn't do, as it'd upgrade your baseband).

Sn0wbreeze should still work for you if you don't have access to a Mac and want to preserve your baseband, however.

I have an iphone 4 with green poison 4.2.1 jailbreak. I know that the untethered jailbreak already came out for 4.3.1 but ive heard that apple is going to be releasing a 4.3.2 to fix some bugs in the next 2 weeks(according to redmondpie.com). Is it worth updating or should i wait? Also what is the process to upgrade the jailbreak? Links would be helpful. I am new to this and ive jailbroken once with 4.2.1 thethered (redsnow) and then unthethered (green poison) so im am fairly new.. Thanks

I'd wait, that's just my opinion though.

The process is fairly simple--run TU's TSS Server, and restore to stock 4.3.1 firmware and then run redsn0w OR restore to PwnageTool/sn0wbreeze custom firmware after entering pwned DFU with any of the three programs (PT/redsn0w/SB).

I have Windows 7 and XP and I didn't see a PwnageTool program to use for Windows. I tried to use Sn0wbreeze 2.51 for 4.21, but I guess it is only for 4.31. I was hoping that it would work for all IPSW files prior to 4.31.
