iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 to 4.3.1 Sn0wbreeze
So I was previously on the untethered 4.2.1 firmware version and I thought about updating to 4.3.1, because untethered jailbreak and unlock was released like I saw from Redmondpie.
Process started like this: I made an custom ipsw with Sn0wbreeze, everything was fine, then a restore through iTunes with the custom ipsw. It was all fine until the end. iPhone reconnected itself with iTunes, but it send me a message that my iPhone is in recovery mode and needs a restore.
What did I do wrong?
Everything was done using this tutorial
Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 Untethered on Windows Using Sn0wbreeze 2.5 [How-To Tutorial] | Redmond Pie
I rely on the ultrasnow unlock
- iPhone 3GS 16gb
- Old bootrom, 05.14.04 baseband
Windows 7
Please help, I'm so frustrated about what's happening right now..Last edited by Dartgh; 04-06-2011 at 02:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Were you running tiny umbrella when you were doing the restore?

No, I would never have thought about it..
Last time I did an firmware upgrade was 4.0.1 to 4.2.1, and that went just amazingly well.

Also try using the latest redsn0w to get your iphone into DFU. I think you need the limera1n injection to get you into the correct DFU mode.

It will get you to the activation screen. The regular DFU mode doesn't work. You need the limera1n injection to correct install and jailbreak your iPhone at the time that is why your getting the restore again. Also are you on the latest iTunes?

Okay, i saw something like this in iClarified " If your baseband is already unlockable and you are on a lower firmware version then use PwnageTool to update to 4.3.1 without upgrading your baseband."
My baseband is unlockable. So for the proper upgrade I should have used PwnageTool??? I have an access to mac also.
//I'm trying the newest sn0wbreeze 4.5.1 right now. Let's see what it does.
YEAH. YEAH SNOWBREEZE 4.5.1 WORKED! I'M ON 4.3.1 WITH 05.13
As I understand, I can't get a unlock until ultrasnow 1.2 fix for 4.3.1 is released?Last edited by Dartgh; 04-06-2011 at 11:05 PM.

My 3GS is unlocked on 4.3.1, did it last night. Assuming it's jailbroken already
Go to cydia.
Manage (at the bottom)
Sources
Select edit
Select add
Type in(leave the http) "cydia.pushfix.info"
Select add source
Let it update(mine updated automatically)
Then search for ultrasn0w fixer for 4.3.1
Install it
Reboot phone
Should be unlocked at start up
