iTunes problem with jailbroken IP4 4.2.1

Hi

I tried to backup/sync my jailbroken iPhone 4 in itunes, as per usual, but this time for some reason it just froze on 'finishing sync' and would not complete. I closed down itunes and did a reset on my phone. I then tried to back it up again as it had not completed previously but itunes would only allow me to either 'start as new phone' or 'back up from *date*'. I do not want to do either of these choices as I do not want to lose all my new Apps etc. My phone is working perfectly and I am aware I do not need to back it up for it to function but I would like to save everything I have on my phone incase I need to reinstall everything following a fault(a tad late I know).

Any ideas as to what I can do to sort it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Save your iTunes db and reinstall iTunes

Just tried it but its still showing the 'setup your phone' menu!

did u replace your itunes DB ?

Sorry...DB meaning? Database?! I kept all my music,podcasts & purchases etc. I uninstalled then reinstalled itunes and my music,podcasts & purchases are still there. Apologies for my lack of knowledge!
