I am going to cry, please can one of you lovely people help with my 3gs!!!!!
Hi there
I have my housemates old 3gs 16gb (locked to o2) iphone and I am really stuck.
I was using it as an ipod touch as I was able to jailbreak it using redsnow. However I learnt I could unlock it upgrading to ipad baseband.
I manually restored again to factory settings but it froze at the apple logo. I then managed to restore it to factory settings using itunes 10.2.1.1 but unfortunetely it upgraded it to the latest firmware.
I tried restoring it again and now I think it's in a recovery loop as it's showing the lead, arrow and itunes symbol only.
I bought this Jailbreak and Unlock your iphone within 5 minutes | iphone 4 ,3gs ,3g, 2g ipod touch and after following the instructions I still can't get it to work. When I try and restore to the Ios 4.3 firmware. I get always get unknown error (3194). I have altered the hosts file to this:
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sea.adobe.com
Could someone please help me, what would you do, I have had a brick for a week now and feel a bit like crying!!! I am not very technically adept so as step by step as possible would be really cool. Thanks so much for trying to help.
Best Wishes. Eddie

Error 3194 is when you dont use SHSHs to restore with or you don't have any SHSHs saved. If you didnt have SHSHs saved before you can't get them now.
Check first for SHSHs with TinyUmbrella. Get it at thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com

I don't know what SHSH's are. Basically, I managed to do a system restore on another computer. I then used redsnow and managed to re jail break it. This is what I am now on:
Modem firmware – 06.15.00
Model - MC131B
Version - 4.3.1 (8G4)
What is the best way that I can get the phone unlocked from here?
I have downloaded tiny unbrella but am not sure what it does or how to use it.
Many thanks for your responses.

I am indeed jailbroken, in cydia, the green writing at the top says:
"This device is in the pending TSS queue"
I have installed ultrasn0w.
I have inserted my virgin mobile sim card and it showing 1 bar of reception. However, it doesen't let me make or receive calls. Any ideas?

Ok i've just restarted the phone after turning enable 3g to OFF.
I jailbroke my iphone using redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc9 and also updated to the 06.15.00 baseband. I am in 4.3.1 firmware unfortunetely.
After restarting, it shows one bar of reception and won't let me make any calls, do I have to turn ultrasn)w on or anything?

Well like I said it never hurts to check for SHSHs to downgrade to a functional firmware that supports ultrasn0w. You could sit and wait if you'd like though. It'd still be a good idea to go and not only check for SHSHs but also save current SHSHs so you actually have options if you run into any problems again.

The adobe thing was already saved on the comp (it's second hand). We don't even have it installed to be honest, I've altered the hosts now.
Right, on tiny unbrella, I think it auto read my udid and on the main page of tiny umbrella i have selected A and E's iphone (which is mine). It says saved SHSH for 3gs are:
iPhone 3GS 4.1 (8B117)
iPhone 3GS 4.3.1 (8G4)
Not sure what this means now.

The above two iOS fw are your SHSH. You can restore to either via tinyumbrella
