Safari wont load
Hi all I have a 3gs running 4.0 jb but safari fails to load, app starts like normal with blank address bar but then goes back to homepage. Like this now for a week, it happened once or twice brfore but a reboot fixed it then but not any more.
I would be open to a update to 4.3.1 seeing as it jb but I have app that records my gas usage and I dont want to lose the data assocated with it.
So I would prefer to fix it on 4.0 any ideas of a fix without a rejailbreak on 4.0 want a real easy fix :-)
reboot or shut down dont work

Easiest fix would probably be to install another web browser, like Atomic or Terra, and use that.
Second-easiest fix would be to reinstall MobileSafari.app from a 4.0 IPSW (you'll have to manually decrypt the IPSW and SSH the app over, keys are at Apex 8A293 (iPhone 3GS) - The iPhone Wiki, you're looking for Root Filesystem).
Safari goes in /private/var/stash/Applications I think...

For data backup, plug your iPhone into your computer, open iTunes, and right click your device in the "Devices" list. Then click "Back Up." If your app for gas usage is an official App Store application, its data should also be backed up by clicking "Back Up" in iTunes.

I had a similar issue a few months ago, every time I opened safari it would crash. For me I finally fixed it by installing "Reset Safari SBSettings Toggle" from Cydia & it worked again. In ResetSafari's settings in ur iPhone Settings, turn ON all 4 switches, then use the ResetSafari toggle in SBSettings to reset. After it's working again, I turned off the 4th switch called "kill ever cookies" cuz it kept deleting my SiriusXM login info but I needed that 4th switch on to rectify the problem just once. Hope that helps, good luck!

Oooh, that might work. Didn't even know that existed...
The URL for Cydia is cydia://package/org.thebigboss.sbsresetsafari FYI (click that link on your iDevice, or search "Reset Safari for SBSettings" in Cydia).

If for whatever reason that does not work, try using chronus from cydia. It will help you backup your gas application data.
Afterwards just update to new iOS and restore using chronus. You might want to check if chronus is compatible with the iOS you are upgrading to.

I just checked "Chronus" in Cydia, looks cool but what is it used for?
Also what do u mean by "gas" application data?
My Safari is ok, I'm not the op but I'm always interested in something I've never seen before in Cydia. Even after 16 months of jailbreaking, I'm always amazed at the "NEW" old tweaks I've missed or not needed.

nillam1, Chronus is used for backing up individual application data if needed. Lets say you've played angry birds and want to save your progress, but want to upgrade your iPhone iOS version by doing a restore and setting it up as a new phone(not restoring from old backup in iTunes)
You would use chronus to backup individual app/game files. This used to be the way I saved my notepad and contacts along with game data then restored it back after upgrading/jailbreaking new iOS.
