Default 3G: Stuck on restore process! "Preparing iPhone software for Restore.."

So I bought a phone of craigslist. Apparently they guys bricked his phone when it was 6.15.00. Its keeps turning off after it shows the itune logo for some seconds.

Bought it, fixed it using DFU from redsn0w and used custom firmware 4.2.1.

That custom firmware didnt have the custom wallpaper option.

    So i rejailbroke with redsn0w 4.2.1.

    Bricked again...

Tried doing redsn0w DFU and custom restore with itunes using custom firmware 4.2.1.

Its stuck on "Preparing iPhone software for Restore.." The iphone is stuck on a blank loading bar as well.

I hope that was real detailed and someone can help me.

    -Thanks

Now it shows me the 1604 error. Iphone is still in the same state

Used iREB r2. Its showing me 1611 error now

DFU w/ redsn0w = No progress in restoring
    DFU w/ iREB r2 = Error 1611

i dont know much about the 6.15.00 baseband.... but you might have to try and jailbreak it like it is because i dont think that you can use any other firmware on it because it has the ipad baseband..... i might be wrong, i would try that and then come back to here and see if someone else has better info than i do

Oh. Ok. Couple of options. But first I need to know if the device is a 3G or 3GS

Never mind. The title says 3G. Sorry. Let me write something up.

The best way to do this is to start all over. Get a stock 3.1.3 ipsw. Also get a 3.1.2 ipsw. Get redsn0w 0.9.4. Get TinyUmbrella.

Open iTunes and hold shift and click restore, use stock 3.1.3.

When restore finishes, receive error 1015 or 1013.

Open TinyUmbrella and select exit recovery.

Open redsn0w and select the 3.1.2 ipsw. Install Cydia only. Then follow on-screen prompts.

You can't go stock if you are on 4.2.1 or above

    Yea its on 6.15.00 4.X

The seller bricked it and I bought it.

i fixed it to 4.2.1 6.15.00. It works

Then I rejailbroke it with redsn0w 0.6.6b6 on 4.2.1 6.15.00 just for the wallpaper

    Bricked again

The problem is, during the restore process with any custom firmware the progress bar doesnt move.
...oh ****...it just moved a tick with sn0wbreeze firmware

nvm its stuck after that tick

It should've been fine to go to stock 3.1.3 and exit recovery bc it isn't to 4.2.1.

But if you're insistent on staying on 4.2.1 you would use a custom firmware. But of course you'd use redsn0w to set it into pwned dfu mode ONLY with redsn0w first before restoring.
