Default iPhone 4 stuck in recovery after downgrade attempt from 4.3.1 to 4.2.1

    Hey guys,

I tried the tethered jailbreak for 4.3.1, and it is way too buggy for my taste. I have all my SHSHs saved since 4.2.1.

I tried restoring from 4.3.1 to 4.2.1 with TinyUmbrella's TSS server running, but it gotstuck after about 60% done, no error 1015 or anything. the restoring progress bar in ITUNES gets stuck at about 90%. I thought the error might have just not been caught since windows told me itunes was not responding, so I unplugged the iphone and tried to kick it out of recovery with tinyumbrella, no go. Now I cannot restore back to either firmware, the same thing happens, I boot in recovery, and am stuck there.

    Help???

After error 1015, if restored to 4.2.1 run greenpois0n on it to get out of recovery mode.

If on 4.1 that's when exit recovery with tinyumbrella would work.

I never got any itunes error. It just stops restoring.

I just tried greenp0ison just to try, and it freezes in the middle of the white command code while jailbreaking the iPhone.

Hm. The restore didn't go through if you didn't get either error 1015 or 1013.

Have you tried another computer? Or uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes?

It doesn't sound like an issue with not having SHSHs or a problem with your phone; it seems like it's your computer/iTunes. Well like I said, try another comp or reinstall iTunes. Perhaps also be sure your Internet connection is stable.

Yup, it just went through to error 1013 on my laptop. Weird...yet another reason I'm not a fan of 4.3.1 so far.

    Thanks alot i.Annie

Yeah I don't like 4.3+ either. Glad you finally got that error just run GP on it and you're good to go.

Edit: woops just realized didn't know If you stuck with 4.3.1 or went to 4.2.1. Scratch the greenpois0n thing :/

    I'd recommend 4.2.1 though.

Did you sync before you restored? You could right-click device and hit restore from backup, but I don't know if it would work from 4.3.1 to 4.2.1. It might say firmware too old for the backup. It might not tho, try it.

If you synced before restoring, just resync for apps music and contacts. If you didn't sync the contacts and apps in that probably isn't possible then. Photos and videos would've had to have been backed up to your computer manually if you can't restore from backup.
