Only 1 bar after update to 4.3.1 while preserving baseband

Hey everyone. Today I received a replacement iPhone 4 from Apple and it was running 4.0.1 and the 01.59.00 baseband. I am going to Germany this summer and would like to unlock my phone in the future. I updated to 4.3.1 while preserving the old baseband. It updated successfully, but I only have 1 bar no matter where I am it. Does anyone know why this would be?

Do you have a bumber on your iphone 4 ? Secondly , unfortunately you have to preserve your baseband, if you have a factory unlocked, it is always good to update baseband. You can't in this case.

I would like to say 4.3 could be part of the issue. I do believe it might work better on 4.2.1. But if you don't have SHSHs saved for 4.2.1 then you're stuck with what you've got.

What method did you use to preserve your baseband?

i used tiny umbrella and i got the 1013 error in itunes. I don't think this is an issue with jailbreaking because the phone is not even jailbroken. It is stock 4.3.1 software with the 01.59.00 baseband.

And you used tiny umbrella to get out of recovery after the error?

yes, i did when i updated it from 4.0.1, but since the bars were all messed up i restored and tinyumbrella couldn't kick it out of recovery mode. I had to use the fixrecovery tool to kick it out and it still had the same issue.

That is strange then. i thought it may be a hactivating issue but you arent jailbreaking so that isnt it.

im having the same problem,update yesterday with custom firmware to 4.3.1 (snowbreze)preserve the baseband (dont need unlocked) and right away I only have 1 bar everywhere, the bar does not go up or down just stays at 1 bar.
So far no drop calls but is just weird.
girlfriends phone next to mine shows full bars ip4 4.1

Put the official sim Card in to activate the phone open setting> General >reset> hard boot and see if that get you going.

Nope, it still has only one bar. I selected "erase all content and settings" and "reset network settings" and it still is the same. My guess is that it has something to do with 4.3.1. Is anyone currently running 4.3.1 with the 01.59.00 baseband and not having these issues?

It's the device jb now? And what program did you use to jb it? Check what SHSH you have with TU or the first page of Cydia will inform what SHSH is available

right now its not jailbroken. i went ahead and restored it to see if it would fix the issue. i used both snowbreeze and pwnage tool to jailbreak. the only shsh i have for the phone is 4.3.1 becuase I just received it yesterday from AppleCare and even though it had 4.0.1, I couldn't save the shsh for it.

Did you open Cydia > search ultrasnow and install > confirmed boot up close Cydia and hard boot

Ok, you do know the jb you're doing now is tethered, don't do anything to lose your bb. I would just wait for the unthered jb to be release...

Do you think that the untethered jailbreak would do anything to fix the problem with me only have 1 bar? That problem persists even when the phone is not jailbroken. I honestly have no idea what the issue is.

Does it still work to make calls with that one bar with the official carrier sim?

Yeah, calls and data work fine. Another problem that I noticed was when it was jailbroken, I installed ultrasn0w and it changed to "no service".

I believe what you are seeing is just a bug with having 1.59 baseband on 4.3.1. I saw someone on twitter with the same issue. As far as unlocking with ultrasnow the regular ultrasnow has not been updated to work with 4.3.1 yet. THere is a unofficial one ih8snow modified to work with it but I dont know if he released it yet.

Do you think there is any chance of the untethered jailbreak fixing the bug with 4.3.1 and 01.59.00?
