Need restore help

Hello all I am kind of in a pickle right now last night I jailbroke a friends 3gs it was once jailbroken on 4.1 but he updated to 4.3 and killed the break. I downgraded to 4.1 and re jailbroke however when I tried to restore from the backup I got an error that said to restore I must also upgrade to 4.3???? Anyone know a way around this? I was able to use an app to look in the backup files and get the contacts back but it only outputs as a text file. Ideally a way to do a normal restore would be perfect so we could get his contacts and photos back. Thanks guys

Easiest way would be to go back to 4.3, sync contacts and photos to the computer manually. Then go back to 4.1, set up as new and sync them back.

+1. you won't be able to get the backup you want to restore to the phone bc iTunes will just say your version is "too old" for that backup.

Thanks for the help I was trying to avoid doing the back to 4.3 deal but oh well looks like that is gonna work just time consuming.
