Exclamation Restore files while in recovery mode?

After turning off then on my phone recently... it took a long time to boot then found itself in recovery mode. It's a jailbroken iPhone 4G on 4.0.x. If I try to kick it out of recovery mode via Recboot or Tinyumbrella it shows the apple logo for a really long time again then finds itself in recovery again.

Is there a way to extract the files off of it easily? I don't have any recent backups and really need to pull the files off of it. I've seen some references to older tools but nothing that I'm thinking would work with the newer iOs.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not sure, I was stuck in recovery mode like you after downgrading to 4.2.1 and this was the only way, other than a full restore!

Yeah that's the worst case scenario... as I would lose all my files. I'm looking to rescue them somehow.
