It has something to do with your settings , check your backgrounder settings if you have it installed.

Ok thanks. I got it to minimize now so when i exit it stays connected. My next trick is i use multicleaner and hold down my home button and that "quits all apps" but i want to exclude skype from that so everything except skype will close.? Hence skype staying connected indefinitely
Any idea? Thanks for the help

If you have disable multitask, Skype will quit whenever you close it unless you have backgrounder enabled it. My skype quits when i close it as i have disable the apple IOS multitask.
You can play with the setting of backgrounders.Last edited by iYeow; 03-29-2011 at 10:16 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I don't use multicleaner and I don't know what it does. From the name itself, I think it quits everything.
On the othe hand , backgrounder, if you want it stay enabled, you just hold the Home button until it says app enabled and you can even have a icon showing that it is running. If this is what you want

maybe try remove background? it's great for me, you can set different actions to remove the backgrounded apps and you can set execptions, so I've got that set up with my iPod app execpted and have the action set to short hold of the home button, works sweet
